Additional therapies offered by Joyce
Kambo Therapy
Joyce is a practitioner of Kambo Therapy (Phyllomedusa bicolor, monkey frog secretion), which she has been administering since 2018. She is certified by “Medicine Frog Kambo” in specialty training for Lyme and autoimmune issues.
Kambo is administered through small burns in the skin, immediately triggering a variety of beneficial chemical reactions in the human body. Kambo has the ability, unlike many other natural and pharmaceutical substances, to cross the blood-brain barrier and produce its effects at the level of the brain. Human cells open themselves to the beneficial properties of Kambo unlike many substances that are eliminated by the body’s highly intelligent defense system. There are also peptides that perform hormone-like tasks, while others provide support for vital cellular processes (learning, memory, metabolism of certain neurotransmitters). Others have a potent effect on the gastrointestinal muscles, gastric and pancreatic secretions, blood circulation and stimulation of the adrenal cortex and pituitary gland and reproductive system, others possess potent analgesic powers. Some are able to inhibit the growth of tumor cells, and antimicrobial, anti-fungal, antiviral and anti-protozoal peptides are also found. The latter property opens a new door in the fight against bacterial infections that have developed resistance to antibiotics.
Hirudotherapy
Hirudotherapy (Leech Therapy/Craft) is one of the most ancient healing methods documented in the history of medicine, dating back to 100-600 B.C.E. In Old English the word “leech” means physician/ healer, or doctor. Specific medicinal leeches such as the Hirudo medicinalis are laboratory-grown. In 2004 medical leech therapy was approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) as a medical device.
Some of the major therapeutic properties of medicinal leeches are:
Anticoagulation effects on blood
Direct thrombolytic effects (dissolves blood clots)
Direct anti inflammatory effects
Direct immunotropic effects (modulates immune system)
Ability to reduce the viscosity of circulatory blood
Significant and prolonged stimulation of local tissue lymphatic outflow
Venous congestion
Medicinal leeches release peptides and other substances including:
Hirudin: powerful anticoagulant that helps prevent blood clotting
Calin: reduces platelet aggregation (clumping of blood platelets
Vasodilators: widen blood vessels and improves blood flow
Anti-inflammatory compounds
Mild Anesthetic
About Joyce
Joyce Roetter is originally from Connecticut, where she grew up on the Long Island sound. Joyce became interested in alternative healing as her career in photography led her to photograph sacred sites and ceremonies in Peru, Guatemala, and Belize. In 2001 Joyce studied with Dr. Jorge Gonzales Ramirez in Tarapoto, Peru at the Escuela de Shamanism Amazonica. She studied ancient healing plant ceremonies with Dr. Gonzales, as well as at Sacha Mama Botanical Preserve, in Iquitos, Peru. In 2003 she moved to Sydney Australia for a one-year residency and traveled to aboriginal sacred sites. Joyce then studied laboratory alchemy with the Al-kemi school in Oregon, as well as essential oils, homeopathics, reiki and other modalities of integrative healing methods.
Motivated by severe, disabling late-stage neurological Lyme/ encephalitis, Joyce was first introduced to Hoshindo in 2005. Having been disabled for many years and after seven years of extensive drug and antibiotic use, and over a decade of numerous therapies, she focused on Apitherapy and apprenticed Sensei Voyce Durling- Jones. Joyce was her first student and the only one who studied for two and ½ years, and continued to work with her in clinic. Joyce was certified by the Hoshindo Society of the Americas as a Hoshindo Ryoho Practitioner.
Since studying Apitherapy and becoming a beekeeper in 2006, Joyce traveled with Voyce to China’s Fujian Apitherapy Institute and a Red Cross Apitherapy Clinic in Beijing. In Brazil Joyce gave lectures on Japanese Meridian Api-therapy at the Federal University of Amazonias, the Bee Young Essential Oil and Phyto-Medicine Conference in Manaus, Brazil, and the Amazonas Chiropractic Center. In Alta Floresta Brazil, she visited the stingless bee agricultural project, and worked in Maui at the Haiku Aina Permaculture Institute. She has been a member of the American Apitherapy Society and served as member of their Board and Faculty. Joyce has also been an Adjunct Faculty member of the Santa Fe Community College since 1996, where she continues to teach in the Photography Department.
